Horse Skillathon 2019 Potential Speech Topics

  1. As a manager of a breeding farm, detail your mare and foal care protocols from the time a mare indicates signs of parturition until foal weaning. Be sure to explain feeding, vaccine protocols, possible ailments, etc.
  2. From breeding fees and foaling out, to feeding/medical costs and training, detail the costs of producing a 3 or 4 year old horse in the discipline of your choosing. Given this information, explain how horses of this age group are priced. Why might that be more expensive than many people would believe?
  3. Equine assisted therapy encompasses a wide range of treatments and programs used in a variety of settings. This relatively young facet of this industry has multiple organizations and associations offering certification as a therapeutic riding instructor. Please explain what equine assisted therapy is, as well as how one might become certified in this area.
